Ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton says Kristoffer Ajer and Odsonne Edouard would not be sold for anywhere near their previous £30m valuations based on their current form.

Like most of the Hoops’ squad, the pair have failed to perform in recent weeks and Sutton believes that if the transfer window was open now, they would struggle to get above £10m for either of them:

“If you watched Edouard the last couple of seasons, there are so many boxes you’d tick. But there is a situation now where people are maybe now going to look at him and question his attitude.”

“It’s unfair just to single Edouard out. Is it happening with Ajer? Linked with AC Milan with a £30 million fee? They wouldn’t be in double figures with performances this season.”

Edouard may have scored five goals in nine Premiership appearances this season but his all-round game has been pretty poor and, as Sutton points out, he looks a pale shadow of the player who has performed for Celtic over the past two years. After previously being linked with Arsenal, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, he may find there is far less interest from clubs in England.

Ajer’s situation is slightly different. The 22-year-old has not been as consistent as Edouard but as a young player with ambitions, his head appears to have been turned by the interest of AC Milan.

Both players will have one year remaining on their contracts in the summer and, with neither likely to sign new deals, it looks as though Celtic will have to cash in on them.
