Celtic forward Giorgos Giakoumakis made only his third appearance for the Hoops in the 2-0 win over Ferencvaros.
The Greek international has experienced fitness issues since arriving from VVV Venlo for £2.5m in the summer, but he played 20 minutes on Tuesday afternoon. His performance impressed a number of fans on Twitter:
Thought he was excellent when he came on tonight, exactly what we required. Offered much more than Abada, who looks like he needs a rest. Would like to see us accommodate GG and Kyogo in the team in next few games

He could do with a goal to get him up and running, but I thought he offered something different when he came up. Johnston (of whom I am usually sceptical) was excellent. Good to finally have some credible attack options on the bench 👍

His hold up play was similar to eddy and was unlucky not to score was involved in the final 3rd for almost every attack when he was on

100% believe we have a player in giakoumakis just need to get him on the scoresheet to get him rolling then I think he will be firing them in

Won a few free kicks with his back to goal when we were under pressure too. A quality that goes unnoticed often. Guy looks a athletically excellent, hope to see more minutes for him in the next few weeks👍

Looked pretty good when he came on. A forward who can hold up play when we have a cushion of a lead against opposition.
Looks like the Sutton to kyogo’s larsson.

I’d like to see him start on Saturday, needs a start , but he looks like he has a good touch and link up play decent

And reasonable mobility for a big guy. Looks a good addition only time will tell.

Giakoumakis does seem to be able to hold up the ball pretty well and he looks like he is decent when he gets a chance to shoot at goal.
The main objective for the 26-year-old is to stay fit. Reports in recent days have suggested that it has been a real struggle to get him into top shape but, hopefully, he will be ready to start a game very soon.
It will be interesting to see whether Giakoumakis is handed a place in the first eleven by manager Ange Postecoglou when Celtic take on St Johnstone at Parkhead this weekend.
