Celtic are unlikely to have cooled their interest in Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The journalist claims that the Hoops have been scouting the 22-year-old for at least a year, and they are unlikely to end their pursuit of the player now:

“I think he’s someone that Celtic have been watching for quite a long time. There was talk of a possible move last summer, and also during the January transfer window, and I’m sure Celtic have continued to monitor his situation. He’s got potential, Semenyo.”

Semenyo’s agent actually confirmed an enquiry from the Hoops a few months ago, so the interest from the Scottish champions is not in doubt, but there are two major obstacles that could stop a deal from going ahead.

Despite the forward having a year left on his contract, reports in February suggested that Bristol City would want £15m up front for the player, with another £5m in add-ons.

There are also plenty of English Premier League clubs pursuing Semenyo, with West Ham, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Brighton, Bournemouth and Fulham all having been credited with an interest in the player over the past few weeks.
