Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek put in an impressive performance despite his side suffering a shock defeat to Everton yesterday afternoon.
The 26-year-old was handed another opportunity by Thomas Tuchel to start in his favoured central midfield position and he did not disappoint.
Loftus-Cheek set up a couple of good counter-attacks in the first half, whilst he was constantly on the move, using his strength to bypass opposing players and getting his team on the front foot. Fans on Twitter were pleased with what they saw from the midfielder in what was, otherwise, a poor team performance at Goodison Park:
Best player on the pitch

He was very good today. The only player taking opponents on and beating them.

Tuchel has talked a lot about Loftus-Cheek lacking belief and not making the most of his talent, but the midfielder showed yesterday what he is capable of when playing at his best.
Sadly for him, though, the display will be overshadowed by the poor result. The Blues are limping over the line currently and they need to rediscover their best form in order to make sure of Champions League qualification.
