Tottenham are prepared to offer between €55m (£47m) and €60m (£52m) for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde but the London club is not one of the Frenchman’s favoured destinations, according to reports in Spain.

The Madrid-based publication claims the 22-year-old wants to be playing in the Champions League, and he would be far more interested in signing for either Chelsea or Manchester United.

It is said that the two clubs are the likeliest teams, other than Spurs, to make a bid for Kounde, with the Blues having already made an “important” approach recently.

United are also believed to be keen, but they are waiting to see whether Raphael Varane decides to join them from Real Madrid, with his France international teammate only being considered as a backup option.

It means Chelsea do appear to have a clear run to sign Kounde at the moment, although it seems signing a centre-back is not a priority for manager Thomas Tuchel, with a striker and a holding midfielder said to be more pressing concerns.
