Red Bull Salzburg president Harald Lurzer has confirmed that they won’t stand in Karim Adeyemi’s way if he wants to leave the Austrian club at the end of the season.

Chelsea have reportedly joined the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Barcelona in the race for the German teenager.

Lurzer said he was under “no illusions” about the likelihood of Adeyemi being sold and he is “aware that Karim will probably take the next step next summer. We don’t want to put any obstacles in the way.”

Although Salzburg’s president refused to put a price tag on the 19-year-old, it has been widely claimed that he would be offloaded for around €40m (£34m).

Dortmund are still believed to be the favourites to snap up Adeyemi, with the striker keen on a return to Germany, but things could still change before next summer.

Whether Chelsea need another forward, though, is another matter. Timo Werner has struggled in front of goal since his arrival at Stamford Bridge so Adeyemi may be an option if his German international teammate were to leave the Blues.
