Bayern Munich are now weighing up whether to sell centre-back Niklas Sule this summer, according to Kicker.

The 25-year-old has one year remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena and it is now believed that recent discussions over a new deal have not progressed as hoped.

Kicker claim that Bayern can no “longer specifically rule out a sale this summer” and that will be of major interest to Chelsea, who are known to be keen admirers of Sule.

The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, who is usually very reliable, has confirmed that the Blues have been keeping tabs on the £30m rated German international, although it is thought that interest had cooled in the defender.

Whether this latest development will reignite a move for Sule, we shall have to wait and see. Manager Thomas Tuchel seems more focused on strengthening his options in midfield and up front so signing a centre-back may not be on the agenda.

A move for Sule seems unlikely especially given the club’s strength in the centre-back position with Dane Andreas Christensen impressing in the Champions League final after he replaced the ageless wonder Brazilian Thiago Silva plus German stalwart Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma who all are still under contract at the Bridge.
