Chelsea will make one more attempt to sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde before the transfer window closes, according to AS.

The Spanish publication reports that the Blues have still not come close to matching Sevilla’s €70m (£60m) asking price for the Frenchman but they suspect that things will change in the next couple of weeks.

After selling Tammy Abraham to Roma for €40m (£34m), Thomas Tuchel’s side do have some funds available to sign Kounde, although it is still believed the departure of Kurt Zouma will be needed for the transfer to go ahead.

AS claim that West Ham are the likeliest club to snap up Zouma, with a fee of €25m (£21m) to €30m (£25.5m) expected for the defender, and if that fee is added to the proceeds from the sale of Abraham, it would be enough to secure Kounde’s signature.

At the moment, though, with no formal offer having been tabled for the 22-year-old, he is likely to play in Sevilla’s game against Getafe on Monday evening.
