Chelsea forward Timo Werner is pressing for a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, according to Sport1.
The German TV channel claim that Werner’s agent Volker Struth is “in talks with several clubs” about a transfer at the end of the season.
It is believed that €40m (£34m) could be enough to persuade Chelsea into selling Werner, who was signed from RB Leipzig for £47.5m back in 2020.
The Blues’ ownership situation does complicate matters as they are barred from buying or selling players at the moment but, if the club is sold by the end of April as planned, this shouldn’t prove to be a major obstacle.
Borussia Dortmund are the team likeliest to make a bid for Werner, as they are seeking a replacement for Erling Haaland. However, the Bundesliga side do have a couple of reservations about the deal.
Werner is currently earning €16m a year (£260,000 a week) so his wages are an issue, while Dortmund are currently prioritising a move for Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi. We shall have to wait and see if other teams will also enter the battle for the Chelsea star.
