Chelsea’s willingness to offer up Tammy Abraham as part of any bid to sign Harry Kane would “be more appealing” to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy than any similar part-exchange deal with Manchester City, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The reliable former BBC reporter has claimed “industry sources” have told him that as Abraham would be a like-for-like replacement for Kane, Levy would be more open to such an offer.

City are said to be willing to use Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte, Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva or Riyad Mahrez in a similar bid for Kane, but Abraham is seen as a better fit for Spurs, both in terms of his ability to play as a lone striker and the fact that his wages won’t be extortionate.

From Chelsea’s point of view, using Abraham would make the transfer a lot more affordable than trying to drum up the funds necessary for Erling Haaland. Borussia Dortmund are not interested in taking Abraham or teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi as part of any deal.

With Kane, though, there is the obvious issue that Levy has refused to negotiate with Chelsea in the past so we shall see if that changes this summer.
