Fluminense have contacted Chelsea defender Thiago Silva about a potential move back to Brazil at the end of the season, according to reports in Brazil.
The 37-year-old’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June and the centre-back may be tempted by a return to the club where he started his journey as a professional footballer.
Silva is still a key player for the Blues, having made nine appearances so far this campaign under manager Thomas Tuchel, but there are question marks about how much longer he is able to play at the top level.
The player himself is said to want to continue his career into his early 40s, and while Chelsea do have an option to extend his stay for another year, reports suggest they will allow him to decide his own future.
A move back home is one of the options being considered by Silva but it’s likely that a final decision won’t be made until much later on in the season.
