Ian Wright believes Chelsea’s position in the top four is still not safe after some disappointing recent results.
The Blues are five points above fifth-placed Arsenal, despite losing to the Gunners midweek but, when asked if Thomas Tuchel’s side should feel secure about Champions League qualification, Wright replied:
While Chelsea have a decent gap to fifth, and have a game in hand as well, their inconsistent form does have some supporters rather concerned.
Having conceded eight goals in their last two home league fixtures, it does set off alarm bells, especially as the Blues still have to face West Ham, Manchester United, Wolves and Leicester in their last seven games.
It would certainly be a big shock if Tuchel’s men don’t finish in the top four, given the advantage they have over other clubs, but performances do need to improve in the coming weeks in order to make sure they are not dragged into a battle with other teams.
