Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku won’t be in the travelling party for the game against Real Madrid tomorrow night.
The Belgian remains sidelined with an Achilles injury that kept him out of the 6-0 win over Southampton at the weekend.
Captain Cesar Azpilicueta was also absent for the Saints’ victory after picking up the virus but he will be fit to face Real.
It’s not such good news for Callum Hudson-Odoi, though, who is set to be out for a few more weeks. The winger has been suffering with both Achilles and back problems and he is now in a race against time to be back before the end of the season.
Ross Barkley is unavailable due to illness. The midfielder was on the bench at St Mary’s on Saturday but Tuchel has said he won’t be flying out to Spain. Ben Chilwell is out for the long-term with an ACL injury.
