Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has provided an update on Mason Mount’s fitness ahead of the Champions League clash against Juventus later this week.
The midfielder missed the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend and, while the injury is said to be minor, Tuchel says the 22-year-old is facing a race against time to be available for the trip to Italy on Wednesday.
“In the end, it will be a matter of hours as to whether he makes it or not.”
Reece James is a major doubt for the Juve match. The fullback had to be taken off midway through the first half against City after twisting his ankle, and he will be assessed over the next few days.
Jorginho was taken off with 15 minutes remaining on Saturday, and it is believed that he did pick up a knock. It is not known how serious the problem is or how long he will be out for.
Christian Pulisic’s ongoing absence is a concern. The American has been out since sustaining an ankle injury during the last international break and he has still not returned to full training.
