Aurelien Tchouameni’s future at Monaco is likely to be dependent on the Ligue One side’s continued participation in the Champions League, according to the Daily Telegraph‘s Matt Law.

Chelsea are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old, along with Manchester United and Liverpool, and the midfielder could be sold before the end of the month if Monaco fail to qualify for the Champions League group stages.

They are 1-0 down heading into their second leg of their playoff round tie against Shakhtar Donetsk, which takes place on Wednesday night (August 25th). With the return fixture being played in Ukraine, the prospects of them qualifying look slim currently.

Tchouameni’s asking price is said to be €40m (£34m), but that may be lowered if Monaco do need to raise funds following their exit from Europe’s premier competition.

Chelsea do have other options as they look to strengthen in midfield. Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and West Ham’s Declan Rice are also on the club’s radar but Tchouameni is likely to be the cheapest option.
