BT Sport pundit Michael Owen is expecting Chelsea to secure a straightforward victory when they play Southampton at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
The Blues head into the game off the back of two successive defeats to Manchester City and Juventus but Owen doesn’t think they will have too much trouble against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side:
“The Saints have had some good results against the big teams this season, with draws against City and United, but I don’t think they’ll get anything here. I reckon Chelsea will be too strong and will win this comfortably.”
Owen has gone with a 3-0 victory for Chelsea, which is slightly surprising considering the Saints have only conceded seven goals in six matches this season.
They actually went to the Etihad and kept a clean sheet last month so Thomas Tuchel’s men will likely have to work hard in order to break them down.
An early goal could be crucial and you would still expect the Blues to come away from this game with all three points, even if it does turn out to be a tighter match than Owen is predicting. Getting back to winning ways is all that really matters though.
