Michael Owen is expecting Chelsea to come away with a straightforward win when they take on Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

The BT Sport pundit says he believes the Blues will be in contention for the title this season, especially after securing the signature of Romelu Lukaku, and he sees them starting the campaign with three points against the Eagles:

“Chelsea kept 12 clean sheets in 20 PL games under Tuchel last season and I think this could be more of the same. I’m tipping a comfortable 2-0 win for the Blues.”

Owen’s prediction seems to be bang on the money. Thomas Tuchel’s side already have one competitive game under their belt, following their shootout win against Villarreal in the Super Cup during the week, so there should be no slip-ups on the opening day.

Of course, with Palace having a new manager at the helm in Patrick Vieira, they will be an unknown quantity, but even so, the massive upheaval at the club over the summer can hardly have been ideal.

With Chelsea being a much more settled side, you have to back them to come out on top pretty comfortably.
