Roma head coach Jose Mourinho wants to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.com.
The ex-Blues boss is thought to be keen on strengthening his midfield and it looks as though he will raid his former club to bring in reinforcements.
It is doubtful that Chelsea will agree to let Loftus-Cheek leave, with manager Thomas Tuchel having praised the 25-year-old for having “so much potential” after the 1-0 win over Malmo on Tuesday night.
While the midfielder is still not a regular starter for the European champions, his game time has increased in recent months and he has already leapfrogged summer signing Saul Niguez in the pecking order.
Loftus-Cheek has started just four games in total but he has been involved in the last five Premier League matches. Roma are, therefore, likely to be unsuccessful if they do make an approach for the England international in the New Year.
