Chelsea appear to be planning for life without Emerson Palmieri and/or Marcos Alonso if reports of the Blues’ interest in Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza are to be believed.
The 25-year-old won the Europa League with the Yellow Submarine last month and he is believed to be a player of interest as manager Thomas Tuchel looks to provide backup for Ben Chilwell.
Pedraza would seemingly be a good fit, as he has played as a wingback for Villarreal, but supporters on Twitter don’t think going after the Spaniard would be a good idea:
Noooooooo.#Alonsoin

No @ChelseaFC , He isn’t better to Alonso, atleast Alonso can score goals.
I’d rather prefer Grimaldo from Benfica— alino_chelse92? (@AnangAlain) June 15, 2021
just keep emerson

Had a good season but usually he is not that good.
Defensively very poor.— Pedrismo ?? (@spanishdotcom) June 15, 2021

I’d rather stay with the alonso and emerson instead of signing this player man. The only leftback i see as an upgrade to our current squad is Alphonse Davies.

Although Emerson may well be a better player than Pedraza, the Italian is believed to be angling for a transfer away from Stamford Bridge as he wants to play more first-team football.
The Blues are unlikely to stand in his way, with a switch back to Italy likely, and with Alonso also tipped to leave, going after a player like Pedraza seems like a logical move.
