Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all hold an interest in Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist claims all three Premier League clubs have been tracking the Spanish international, who has a release clause between €55m (£46.4m) and €60m (£50.6m):
Pau Torres is attracting interest from top clubs again as his release clause will be valid this summer: €55/60m, available until the end of the market. 🟡🇪🇸 #transfers

Fans on Twitter seem to be pretty split on whether Torres has the quality to play for the Blues:
One of the best defenders around

He’s class but not for our style, would do good for teams like city and United (ten haag) style of play.

Have you seen him play? Raul Albiol does all the dirty work for him. Torres is Eric Garcia 2.0

He’s weak and soft centered.

With manager Thomas Tuchel having confirmed that Antonio Rudiger will leave the club at the end of the season, it is not a surprise that Chelsea are now being linked with a fair few centre-halves.
RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol was mentioned a couple of days ago and the rumours about Juventus’s Matthijs de Ligt have also begun to surface once again. Torres is another name that has been linked in the past, and the fact that he is left-footed would suggest he would be a direct replacement for Rudiger. We shall see which defender ends up being the number one target.
