Chelsea midfielder Saul Niguez has had a tough time of things, to say the least, since he arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer.
His latest cameo off the bench against Everton on Thursday night saw him struggle once again, making a number of poor passes, and supporters on Twitter have been discussing the Spaniard’s future:
One of the worst players I’ve seen in a Chelsea shirt

Can’t believe he’s still getting minutes, he’s shocking

How is this guy a pro

How did Tuchel sign this guy, what did he see in him?. Am starting to doubt Tuchel completely. He has poor decisions

He is arguably the worst loan player we have ever had. I would rather have any one else from the academy play instead of him.

Signed because he was promised he’d get a chance in midfield. Since the first two diabolical outings he’s been shoehorned into LWB and now false 9. Worse than Minero

Hands down the worst player ever to pull the Chelsea top!

I thought Bakayoko was the worst I’d seen in a Chelsea shirt. Wrong.
Never call Saul. Ever again.

To be fair to Niguez, manager Thomas Tuchel’s bizarre decision to put him up front for the last half hour of the Everton game didn’t really help matters.
Playing in an unfamiliar position combined with the fact that he is already struggling for confidence made it a recipe for disaster.
Even so, it’s clear that Tuchel doesn’t rate Niguez, considering how sparingly he has been used since his arrival back in August, and you’d expect him to be sent back to Spain next month if some sort of arrangement over his salary can be agreed.
