Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is expecting Chelsea to secure another win when they travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tomorrow evening.
The former Arsenal and Aston Villa midfielder was disappointed by Spurs’s performance against Crystal Palace last weekend, and he feels the Blues will be too strong for them:
“I watched Chelsea play against Zenit in the UEFA Champions League and Romelu Lukaku didn’t have too many chances. However, he popped up to score the matchwinner with a brilliant goal and that is exactly what he brings to the team – I fancy him to score every time he plays! The fans will be up for this one and I predict Chelsea to be too strong for Spurs on the night.”
Merson has gone with a 2-1 victory for Thomas Tuchel’s side which seems like a fair prediction, considering the recent form of the two teams heading into the London derby.
It’s unlikely to be straightforward for Chelsea, as the home side did beat Manchester City on the opening day, but you would back them to edge a close encounter, especially as they have already secured a result away at Liverpool this season.
As Merson mentions, Lukaku could well be the difference between a draw and a win in this game, and you wouldn’t bet against the Belgian international popping up with another crucial goal.
