Chelsea wingback Reece James has been praised by BBC pundit Garth Crooks after his brace against Newcastle United at the weekend.
Both goals were very well taken and Crooks joked he couldn’t tell whether James had a stronger right or left foot considering how cleanly he hit both shots:
“Reece James: Scored the first with his left foot and the second with his right and I can’t tell which one James struck better. They were both hit with the same power and precision. This is the second consecutive week I have selected James and done so without the slightest hesitation. The lad is playing out of his skin.”
James was the only Chelsea player to make it into Crooks’ team of the week. Two Arsenal players (Aaron Ramsdale and Gabriel) were included, while three Crystal Palace stars (Marc Guehi, on-loan Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher and Wilfried Zaha) also made the eleven.
Manchester United’s important 3-0 win over Tottenham led to Raphael Varane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani being selected, while the final two places in the team were taken up by West Ham’s Declan Rice and Brighton’s Enock Mwepu.
James now has an incredible four goals in his first seven league appearances and Blues fans will be hoping his extremely impressive form in front of goal continues when they face Malmo and Burnley this week.
