Chelsea are lining up a €80m (£67.6m) bid for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, according to El Nacional.
The notoriously unreliable Catalan publication claims that the Blues have previously offered €50m (£42m) for the Brazilian international but they will now “hope to convince” Real with a much higher bid.
Rodrygo has not impressed since moving to the Bernabeu from Santos, scoring only 11 goals in 79 appearances over the past two and a half seasons.
It is, therefore, extremely unlikely that Chelsea would be interested in the 20-year-old, who was once tipped to be the “new Neymar” by sections of the media.
The price tag being suggested is way too high, considering Rodrygo’s very average performances for Real. He may well improve in the future, but manager Thomas Tuchel would be looking for much better value for money if the Blues do go after another attacker in the January transfer window or next summer.
