Chelsea are “interested” in signing Hoffenheim left-back David Raum, according to reporters Simon Phillips and Dan McCarthy.
The pair run a weekly podcast about the Blues and they claim sources have told them that Raum is a player that is under consideration as the London club look to strengthen the left flank.
Raum had an outstanding season for Hoffenheim, scoring three goals and providing 13 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances. He played as both a left-back and at wingback which would make him a perfect fit for Thomas Tuchel’s system.
With Marcos Alonso expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, a replacement will be needed. Chelsea were keen on adding Ivan Perisic to the squad, with the Croatian set to leave Inter Milan on a free transfer, but the player has been persuaded by his former manager Antonio Conte to join Tottenham instead.
Raum appears to be one of the main alternatives so we shall see if a move is made for the 24-year-old in the coming weeks.
