Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta says he is not worried about his contract situation, despite his current deal expiring at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old has spent the last nine years at Stamford Bridge but it could all come to an end this summer if he doesn’t agree an extension. From the sound of things, though, Azpilicueta is pretty relaxed about everything:
“I don’t have any concerns, I feel fully trusted by the club since I arrived.’At the moment it is true that my contract ends in June but I just focus on what’s next, to train and play the best I can. Everything will take care of itself, I don’t need to say anything more. I have to keep doing what I am doing and it will come by itself. Of course, I love to be here, I feel loved since I arrived and my aim is to be here for as long as I can be.”
Supporters on Twitter are hopeful that Azpilicueta and the club can get any issues resolved as soon as possible:
They should give him the contract!

True legend: hardwork, dedication, and loyalty. Not popular in the current world of football.

Chelsea usually only give one-year extensions to players over the age of 30, but they have made exceptions in recent years. It will be hoped that an agreement can be reached which will satisfy all parties.
Azpilicueta will be able to speak with foreign clubs in the New Year but, going from the player’s comments, he is determined to remain at Chelsea. We shall see how it plays out.
