Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi “feels let down” by the club after his loan move to Borussia Dortmund was blocked, according to The Athletic‘s Simon Johnson.

The journalist reports that the 20-year-old is frustrated with his lack of game time and wanted a season away from Stamford Bridge in order to develop as a player.

Hudson-Odoi has made just one appearance so far this season, starting in the UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal, and he has been an unused substitute in the three league fixtures since then.

The Englishman’s development has stalled since he signed a £120,000 a week contract back in 2019. While there was optimism about his progress when he returned for preseason, manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed frustration at the player’s inability to translate performances from the training pitch into matches.

The Blues boss reportedly trusts the likes of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic more, leaving Hudson-Odoi with limited minutes off the bench.
