Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is pushing for the club to sign his former player Ousmane Dembele, according to 90min.com.
The website reports that the Blues boss has offered “glowing references” to the club’s hierarchy about the France international, who is expected to be available on a free transfer this summer.
Dembele worked with Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund and there is mutual admiration between the two of them, which makes a move from Barcelona all the more likely to happen.
The 24-year-old has not completely ruled out staying at the Camp Nou but it appears that there is too big a gap between the two sides in terms of agreeing a new contract, with the player demanding a sizeable salary.
Chelsea won’t be the only team involved in the race for Dembele’s signature with Paris Saint-Germain also holding talks with the player. 90min claim both clubs have made “similar” offers so it will be down to the winger’s preference. Considering his admiration for Tuchel, you would make the Blues the favourites.
