Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants to bring Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos to Stamford Bridge, according to reports in the English media.
The Blues were thought to be prioritising other areas of the pitch this summer, but Tuchel is said to be keen on strengthening his options at centre-back.
Marquinhos worked under Tuchel for two and a half years at PSG, developing into an authoritative centre-half, and he was handed the captain’s armband when Thiago Silva left the Parc des Princes on a free transfer last year.
Whether the Brazilian international could be convinced to make the switch to the Premier League, it is up for debate, and he is unlikely to be available for a reasonable price either.
Other centre-backs have been linked with Chelsea in recent months, such as Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, and it will be interesting to see who the London club make a formal offer for.
