Chelsea right-back Reece James put in a performance of the highest order against Real Madrid last night.
The 22-year-old did get an early yellow after losing Vinicius Jnr but he dealt with the tricky Brazilian superbly for the rest of the evening, whilst also getting forward to support the Blues’ in the final third of the pitch.
Kai Havertz should have done a lot better with James’ exquisite cross that could have won the game for Thomas Tuchel’s side but, as it turned out, the fullback was very unlucky to be on the losing side in the tie. Supporters on Twitter have been praising the England international for his excellent display:

After demonstrating his abilities on the biggest stage, there is no doubting James is one of the best fullbacks in the world. Both defensively and in the attacking third, he possesses an all-round game that can’t be bettered by any other player in his position.
