Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma says he was not too concerned that he didn’t secure a transfer away from the south coast in the summer.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City were all mentioned as potential suitors for the Malian, but the player says he is remaining patient about getting his big move:
“I didn’t go this summer, maybe it’s because it’s not my time to go. When my time will come, it’s my time, but I’m happy in Brighton, I’m enjoying playing football. My dream is like every player, I want to play in the Champions League, I want to be champions. I want to compare myself on the top level, not just with other players.”
It’s likely that Brighton’s valuation of £40m put off a lot of suitors for Bissouma, but he will only have one year left on his contract with the Seagulls at the end of the season, and that may lead to his price coming down somewhat.
On the basis of the form he has shown early on this campaign, the 25-year-old looks poised to be the subject of a big-money bid from another team in the not too distant future.
Whether Liverpool will get involved, it remains to be seen. Manager Jurgen Klopp has recently expressed satisfaction with the current options available to him in midfield, but that could change, especially with both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian also having one year remaining on their current deals next June.
