Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares is backing Real Madrid to beat Liverpool when the two sides face off against each other in the Champions League final this weekend.
The Portuguese defender did praise the Reds for being an excellent team, but he believes that Real will have too much for Jurgen Klopp’s men:
“Real Madrid. Because they are on fire this season. It’s 11 against 11, Liverpool are really, really good. They look forward all the time and don’t let the other team breathe but it will be a good fight.”
Liverpool are the slight favourites with the bookmakers, but cup finals can be very difficult games to call, especially when you have two teams that are so used to these types of occasions.
In Karim Benzema, Real have a player who can score a goal pretty much out of nothing, while the threat of Vinicius Jnr rampaging down the left-wing will also be difficult to deal with.
The Reds do, of course, have their own major attacking weapons, and Mo Salah will be more determined than any other player to make an impact after getting injured in the last major final between the teams four years ago.
