Ex-Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has backed his former club to pursue either Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka or West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen this summer.
With the two players missing out on Champions League football, Enrique feels that the pair would be keen on joining the Reds:
“I think Jarrod Bowen or Bukayo Saka could be a great shout as they’re both not playing in the Champions League so it’s a big possibility.”
While Enrique may be right about Bowen’s interest, it’s a lot harder to see Saka leaving his boyhood club in favour of a move to Anfield.
Liverpool and Manchester City were both said to be keeping tabs on Saka’s contract situation a few months ago but reports since then have indicated that the 20-year-old is expected to sign an extension, despite the fact that the Gunners missed out on the top four.
Bowen would probably cost a fair amount too. You have to say that a transfer is more likely to happen next summer, with Mo Salah having confirmed that he will stay with the Reds for at least one more year, even if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new deal.
