Real Madrid remain the “favourites” to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to the Daily Mail reporter Dominic King.
The journalist, who is usually very reliable, was reacting to reports in France claiming that Liverpool have made contact about signing the Frenchman this summer. While King says Jurgen Klopp’s side are interested, they are not frontrunners for his signature:
Lots of stuff around about Liverpool and Aurelien Tchouameni. No question he is a player they are looking at but other clubs in frame, too, most notably Real Madrid, who are favourites. Liverpool, however, most definitely looking for a midfielder with his qualities.

Liverpool’s interest in Tchouameni has been known for a number of months. The Athletic‘s David Ornstein mentioned that the Reds and Manchester United were tracking the 22-year-old back in January.
A number of other reports have also mentioned Chelsea, but the Blues won’t be able to sign players until the takeover of the club is completed, so the player may have to choose between Real, Liverpool and United.
Tchouameni would certainly be an excellent addition if he were to make the switch to Anfield, but King’s assessment of the situation suggests that fans should keep their expectations in check.
