Liverpool are among the three “frontrunners” for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to ESPN.
The Reds are said to be competing with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for the Swiss international’s signature this month.
Zakaria is out of contract at the end of the season but reports suggest that the 25-year-old could be let go by Glabach for as little as €7m (£6m) before the January transfer window closes.
ESPN don’t make it clear whether Liverpool intend to secure his services on pre-contract agreement or if they are happy to pay a transfer fee now in order to bring him to Anfield six months early.
Other teams, including Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal have also been linked with Zakaria in recent weeks but it seems as though Jurgen Klopp’s side are very much favourites, among the interested English clubs at least, in the battle to sign the player.
