Liverpool forward Mo Salah has confirmed that he is not currently holding talks about extending his contract with the Reds.
The Egyptian international will have two years remaining on his current deal in the summer but, when asked about his future during a recent interview, he said:
“No one is talking to me about anything, so I can’t say much about that. No one in the club is talking to me about anything so I do not know.”
Salah has spoken out a number of times in recent months regarding his situation, and it seems Liverpool are dragging their heels in opening discussions over a new contract, which is concerning supporters on Twitter:

Nobody will be for £300k a week either. Salah and Liverpool will have to make a decision. Salah saying all the right things, i want to break records, win another league and CL with Liverpool. Salah knows Liverpool will not offer him another contract ?

If I’m salah and I’m earning less than Anthony martial while playing at a world class level every season and banging in 20+ goals every season I too would want a new improved contract

Liverpool always being cheapskate

What a joke of a club? Looks like the FSG is running out of money or something

The signs don’t look good at the moment. Previously, the Reds haven’t allowed high-profile players to run down their contracts into the final two years but it may be the financial impact of the global health crisis which is delaying things.
If the club manages to get full houses back into Anfield at the start of next season, we should hear more about Salah’s future and negotiations may well get underway then.
