Liverpool do have a Premier League game against Leicester on Thursday night so manager Jurgen Klopp is very unlikely to put out a full-strength team for the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Cardiff tomorrow.
Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to start in goal ahead of Alisson, with Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas having good cases to play in the two fullback roles. Joe Gomez needs the game time so he is likely to play, with Ibrahima Konate partnering him in the centre of defence.
Thiago and Harvey Elliott are both back fit but they could have to settle for a place on the bench, along with Fabinho who played on Wednesday for Brazil. Tyler Morton, James Milner and Curtis Jones may start as the midfield three.
Up front, new signing Luis Diaz has barely had time to train with his new teammates so expect him to be only used as a substitute. With Sadio Mane and Mo Salah still away at the African Cup of Nations, it could allow Kaide Gordon to start on the right flank, with Roberto Firmino through the middle and Diogo Jota playing off the left.
Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Play Cardiff City:
Kelleher, Bradley, Konate, Gomez, Tsimikas, Milner, Morton, Jones, Gordon, Firmino, Jota
