Watford would demand £80m for Ismaila Sarr if Liverpool made an approach for the Senegalese international, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

Reports in the Italian media earlier this week suggested that the 23-year-old could be the subject of a £40m bid from the Reds before the transfer window closes, with the player prepared to ask for a move. However, Sheth says those claims were incorrect:

“I’m told that Sarr has not asked to leave and the quote I was given, ‘He wouldn’t ask to leave, he is happy.’ Furthermore, Watford simply not looking to sell Ismaila Sarr. He’s got a contract until 2024 and it would take silly money. One number I was given was £80m for Watford to even consider coming to the table.”

There is no way that Liverpool would consider paying £80m for Sarr, and it’s likely the case that Watford have slapped a sky-high price tag on the player simply to scare away suitors.

The winger has started the season in good form, having scored in the Hornets’ 3-2 win over Aston Villa on the opening day, and there is no doubt that Jurgen Klopp’s side will be keeping tabs on his progress.

Both the Reds and Manchester United have been heavily linked with Sarr over the past year, but it seems as though the Senegalese star will be staying put this summer.
