Jurgen Klopp has praised the impact made by Liverpool‘s substitutes during their 2-0 victory against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Inter had gained a foothold in the game during the second half, but goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah put the Premier League giants in full control of the last-16 tie.

As well as Firmino getting on the scoresheet, Jordan Henderson was particularly impressive after being introduced as a replacement, and Klopp was quick to praise how a quartet of players changed the game.

Speaking to BT Sport, Klopp said: “It was perfect how the boys reacted. All of them want to start. All my respect for Jordan Henderson’s performance today and Naby [Keita], who came on. Luis [Diaz] is so natural when he comes on so that is all very helpful.

“Bobby Firmino needed time to get in the game because he got the balls in the most difficult areas. After he scored the goal, you could see the confidence back and all of a sudden the ball was our friend again.”

The second leg of the tie takes place at Anfield on March 8.
