Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he would be in favour of switching the Carabao Cup semi-final to a one-legged tie.

The Reds secured their passage to the last four after a dramatic penalty shootout win against Leicester City last night. Following the match, Klopp agreed when asked whether there should be a change to the format:

“Yes, I think it would be better with one game, absolutely, but obviously what I say is not too important, so if there are two games then we play two games. It would be helpful if it’s only one, true.”

Klopp’s side will face Arsenal in the next round, with the Merseyside club currently scheduled to make the trip to the Emirates on January 4th, with the return leg on January 11th.

However, with Liverpool’s next Premier League fixture postponed due to a virus outbreak in Leeds’ squad, one of those two dates could be used to reschedule the match.

Whether that will be proposed by the Reds, we shall have to wait and see. Chelsea and Tottenham will face each other in the other semi-final, and Spurs boss Antonio Conte has echoed Klopp’s sentiments. The Lilywhites have had three league games postponed in recent weeks.
