Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson is expected to be out until after the next international break with an ankle injury.

The Scotland captain picked up ligament damage during the 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday but the scan results were better than first feared.

There was another injury scare in last night’s friendly versus Osasuna when Curtis Jones had to be taken off the pitch with what looked like a hip problem.

However, the 20-year-old took to Instagram after the 3-1 victory to confirm that he had not sustained a serious injury, and he is hoping to be back on the pitch soon. Whether he’ll be available for the season opener against Norwich City this weekend, though, it remains to be seen.

Captain Jordan Henderson did get some minutes under his belt in the second half against Osasuna. However, his lack of match sharpness means he is highly unlikely to start at Carrow Road on Saturday evening.

Trent Alexander-Arnold did not feature at all yesterday but the fullback has confirmed he has fully recovered from a thigh injury that prevented him from playing for England at the European Championships.
