Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane claims that his former club Manchester City and Premier League title rivals Liverpool will be the most dangerous opponents to come up against in the Champions League this season.
Bayern, themselves, are among the favourites to win this campaign’s competition but, when he was asked about who could challenge his team in Europe, Sane said the Bundesliga champions will have to be wary about the two English teams:
“I would say the way they are playing at the moment: Liverpool FC and Manchester City.”
It is interesting that Sane doesn’t mention current European champions Chelsea, but you’d have to say that, in terms of form, Liverpool and City are looking pretty formidable currently.
Of course, a lot can happen in the knockout stages of the Champions League. The likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also still in the tournament and there could be a few shocks between now and the final in May. Even so, you’d back the Reds and City to be there or thereabouts.
