Liverpool have retained their membership of the European Club Association (ECA), it has been confirmed.
The Reds were one of twelve teams, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham who attempted to form a Super League back in April, which would have also led to their departure from the ECA.
However, the huge backlash to the proposed breakaway competition led to the Reds reversing their decision on taking part, with owner John W Henry subsequently apologising for the club’s actions.
Retaining membership in the ECA means they will be involved in future discussions with UEFA when it comes to decisions that impact European football, including the Champions League.
Only nine of the breakaway clubs had their membership extended, though, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus now no longer part of the ECA, having refused to renege on their participation in the Super League, despite the proposals being effectively dead.
