Liverpool are among the clubs who have “asked” Inter Milan to be kept informed about Lautaro Martinez’s situation, according to 90min.com.
The website reports that the Reds, Chelsea and Manchester City are aware of Inter’s poor financial situation and will be keen on signing the Argentinian international if he is made available for transfer.
Martinez is currently holding talks over a contract extension, which could also remove his €111m (£95m) release clause, but it seems the 23-year-old could be available for below that figure anyway.
90min claim that the forward may be sold for around £70m if Inter’s financial woes continue, and that would pique the interest of Liverpool who are looking to strengthen at the top end of the pitch.
However, Chelsea and City’s involvement could complicate matters, with both seeing Martinez as a potentially cheaper alternative to Erling Haaland. At this stage, though, there is no clarity over whether Inter need to sell the Argentine or not.
