Liverpool are weighing up a bid for Porto winger Luis Diaz when the January transfer window opens, according to multiple reports in the Portuguese media.
The Colombian international has been linked with the Reds, as well as Chelsea and Manchester United, in recent months after an excellent start to the season.
Diaz has bagged 11 goals in 16 matches for Porto, having been deployed on the left flank, cutting in onto his stronger right foot, which would make him perfectly suited to playing in Liverpool’s front three.
The 24-year-old does, however, have an €80m (£67m) release clause and Porto are not prepared to sell the player for below that amount. The Portuguese side are hoping to keep him, at least until the end of the season.
Liverpool do need to reinforce their options up front, with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane both expected to be absent during the African Cup of Nations, but they are very unlikely to pay £67m for Diaz just so he can fill in for the Reds in the short term.
