Liverpool have held talks about signing PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen, according to reports in the German media.
Borussia Dortmund are thought to be keen on snapping up the Dutch international as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho, who looks destined to join Manchester United.
However, the Bundesliga club are aware that they face a battle to sign Malen, with Liverpool also ready to make their move for the former Arsenal academy player.
The 22-year-old left the Gunners to return to the Netherlands in 2017 and he has developed into an excellent striker over the past four years.
Malen bagged 27 goals in all competitions last season for PSV, but he isn’t only a poacher, having also provided 10 assists for his teammates. The Dutchman relies on his speed and can play right across the front three, so he would certainly fit into Jurgen Klopp’s system.
Whether the Reds will actually step up to make a formal offer for the forward in the coming days, we shall have to wait and see.
