Liverpool are competing with ten other clubs to snap up Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to Gladbach Live.

The German website claims that the Reds will be joined by Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, West Ham, Everton, Juventus, Roma, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona in trying to sign the Swiss international.

Zakaria’s current deal expires next summer and any team outside of Germany can discuss a pre-contract agreement from the beginning of next month. Even so, there is still a possibility that Gladbach will look to cash in on the 25-year-old during the January transfer window.

Gladbach Live reports that the Bundesliga side may demand around €12m (£10.2m) for the player, which is not a great deal, considering how much he would be worth under usual circumstances.

At this stage, it is thought a switch to England is the likeliest outcome, due to the financial muscle of the Premier League clubs, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will make their move.
