Liverpool are “ready to invest” €70m (£59m) to sign Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak this summer, according to Noticias de Gipuzkoa.
The Basque news outlet claims that Reds scouts have been keeping tabs on the Swedish international and they have “advised” the club to snap up the forward.
It is believed that Isak is also being “followed closely” by Arsenal and Manchester United but neither of those two teams have stepped up their interest in the 22-year-old so far.
Real Sociedad are reportedly glad that there is competition for the player’s signature, as it could drive up his price closer to his €90m (£76m) release clause.
Isak has been linked with Liverpool for the best part of a year, but you’d have to question where he would fit in if he were to move to Anfield. Manager Jurgen Klopp already has an abundance of options upfront to choose from. With Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all closing in on the final year of their contracts, though, perhaps the interest in Isak is in preparation for a huge overhaul in attack.
