Hoffenheim midfielder Christoph Baumgartner will only leave the Bundesliga side this summer if a club comes up with a “mega offer”, according to Kicker.
The German magazine reports that both Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in the Austrian international but Hoffenheim are not expected to sell one of their prized assets.
Baumgartner had a very good season in Germany, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists in 41 appearances, and he continued that form into the European Championships where he scored a crucial winner against Ukraine in the group stages.
The 21-year-old does look as though he will be staying with Hoffenheim for the time being but his performances will continue to be monitored by Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards and the club’s scouts.
It is still not known whether the Reds will make a move for a midfielder in the coming months, although they have been heavily linked with other names, in addition to Baumgartner. Porto’s Otavio and Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez have also been mentioned as potential targets.
