Ex-Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson is expecting his former club to record a comfortable win when they play Newcastle tomorrow night.

The BBC pundit thinks the Reds’ strength in the final third of the pitch, combined with the Magpies’ poor form, means there will be only one outcome:

“When you consider Liverpool’s attacking power and think about Newcastle’s weakness at the back, then there is only going to be one outcome, really. We saw again in their heavy defeat against Leicester what a big job Magpies manager Eddie Howe has has on his hands to keep them up, and I can’t see them getting a result here that will help them out much there.”

Lawrenson has gone with a 3-0 victory to Liverpool, which is a pretty kind prediction, considering that Eddie Howe’s side are still reeling from that loss to Leicester.

Of course, no win should be taken for granted, but this match is at Anfield and the away side will be very much up against it.

Only complacency from Jurgen Klopp’s men would stop this from being a straightforward win and you can’t really see that happening with this group of players.

After Manchester City’s 7-0 thumping of Leeds, Liverpool will be under some pressure, though, to keep pace with their title rivals, who are now four points ahead in the table.
